The first of our gift books, From Father to Son: Wisdom For the Next Generation, was published in 1993. Allen, who grew up in West Virginia in the 50s and 60s, felt that a certain style of community sharing-of-wisdom was disappearing from our lives and our children's lives. To preserve some of those memories, he asked hundreds of men for their stories about their fathers. They provided solid, useable wisdom that their fathers passed along to them as they were growing up.
